再小的善业,也可换来无量安乐
Even the Smallest Good Deed Can Bring Boundless Peace and Happiness
不管国王还是乞丐,在死亡面前都是平等的。
At the hands of death, the king and the beggar are equal.
每一个众生死亡之后,均会随自己所造的善恶业而流转,
After death, every being will drift along in cyclic existence with the wholesome and unwholesome karma they have created.
因此,为了今生利益而造诸多恶业,是相当不明智的行为。
Therefore, it is extremely unwise to produce much unwholesome karma for the sake of gaining benefit in this life.
无论是什么身份的人,谁都希望得到快乐,而不愿意感受痛苦。
Everyone—no matter who it is—wishes to have happiness and not to have suffering.
因此,为了日后的长久安乐,
Thus, to gain long-lasting peace and happiness in the future,
在今生短暂的时光里,趁选择权还掌握在自己手中时,我们应该修持正法。
during this brief life of ours we should practice the authentic Dharma while the choice is still in our hands.
麦彭仁波切讲过:今生是因,来世是果,
Mipham Rinpoche said that this life is the seed and the next life is the fruit;
既然如此,那现在为什么不多造善业呢?
since this is the way things are, why not do more virtuous deeds?
就像农民种庄稼,若想在秋天收获,就必须在春天好好播种耕耘。
If farmers tilling the land wish to harvest in fall, they must plow and sow well in spring.
我曾再三讲过,哪怕造一个小小的善业,将来也可获得无量安乐。
I have repeatedly said that even the smallest good deed can yield immeasurable peace and happiness in the future.
比如每日念一遍《普贤行愿品》,花的时间虽然很短,
For instance, chanting the Aspiration of Bodhisattva Samantabhadra once every day takes only a little time,
但依此功德,未来定能断除恶趣的根本,获得无量胜妙的安乐
。But through this virtue, you can definitely eradicate the root causes of the lower realms and attain infinite, wondrous peace and happiness in the future.
又比如,佛经中讲,就算听到讲法之前的海螺声,也不会堕入三恶趣,更何况是亲自听闻佛法了?
And it is said in the sutras that if one hears just the sound of the conch before a Dharma teaching—let alone the actual Buddhadharma—one will not fall into the lower realms.
因此,我们不要以为一些小善微不足道。
Therefore, let us not think that small virtuous acts are insignificant.
假如一味地贪执闪电般的今生享乐,对将来从来不做任何准备,
If you only crave the momentary pleasures of this life and never prepare for the future,
年老时一定后悔莫及。
you are sure to be filled with regret in old age.
我们的心居住在身体中,就像小鸟暂停在大树上一样,
Our mind residing in our body is like a small bird resting in a big tree:
相聚的时间非常短暂。
their time together is very short.
尤其是作为老年人,头发正在一根根被风霜染白,
Especially as we age, our hair is whitened, strand by strand, by the hardships of life,
走路也不能像往昔一样挺直,
and we can no longer walk upright as we did in the past.
这说明小鸟就要离开大树了。
This means the small bird is about to leave the big tree.
所以,大家一定要趁现在心识的小鸟和身体这棵大树正聚合在一起的难得因缘,
Thus, when the rare causes and conditions appear for the small bird of consciousness and this big tree of the body to come together,
好好精进修持!
we must make haste and practice diligently!
